Beirut“Beirut” is a 2018 critically acclaimed action thriller set in Beirut during the Lebanese civil war. In 1972 Beirut, American diplomat Mason Skiles (Jon Hamm) hosts a cocktail party that ends with a tragic terrorist attack. Ten years later, CIA operatives (Rosamund Pike and Dean Norris) are caught in the crossfire of the civil war and must send Skiles back to Beirut to negotiate for the life of a friend he left behind during the attack.

Please join the Center for American Progress’ Reel Progress program and Bleecker Street for a screening of “Beirut.” The screening will be followed by a short panel discussion featuring the film’s producer and screenwriter, Tony Gilroy (“Bourne Identity,” “Michael Clayton,” “Star Wars: Rogue One”) along with CAP’s Kelly Magsamen and journalist Hisham Melhem. “Beirut” premieres in theaters on April 11, 2018.
