Just a Judge

Follow the journey of a federal judicial nominee from appointment to confirmation, and see the many ways justice can be delayed along the way.

Right now, the U.S. Senate’s judicial confirmations are moving at their slowest rate since 1960, leaving empty seats in federal courts across the country with no one to hear thousands of pending cases and putting countless American lives on hold. This has led to a record number of backlogged cases in federal courts nationwide.

We all know how a bill becomes a law, but how does one become a judge? This video follows the journey of a fictional character named Martha from appointment to confirmation for a seat on the federal bench and shows the many ways justice can be delayed along the way.
