Everything You Need to Know About Zubik v. Burwell

Here, in two minutes, is everything you need to know about what is at stake in Zubik v. Burwell.

On March 23, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in Zubik v. Burwell, a consolidation of seven cases brought by religiously affiliated nonprofits that object to the federal government-provided accommodation to the contraceptive mandate in the Affordable Care Act. The plaintiffs in Zubik argue that the contraceptive coverage mandate violates the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. A ruling in favor of the Zubik petitioners would not only restrict women’s reproductive rights, but it would also undermine the religious liberty of employees, students, and families. Here, in two minutes, is everything you need to know about what is at stake in this hearing.
